World Health Day Celebrated at Shri Venkateshwara University with Seminar, Awareness Rally and Health Campaigns


Meerut: Shri Venkateshwara University/Institute, Meerut, marked World Health Day (April 7) with a series of impactful awareness programs under the theme "Healthy Beginning, Hopeful Future". The celebrations included a national health seminar, debates, poster-making competitions, awareness rallies, street plays, quizzes, and signature campaigns, among over a dozen health-focused activities.

The events were organized jointly by the Venkateshwara School of Nursing, VIMS, and VGI, Meerut, aligning with the World Health Day 2025 theme. The main ceremony was inaugurated at the Dr. C.V. Raman Auditorium with a traditional lamp-lighting by Group Chairman Dr. Sudhir Giri, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Dean of Academics Dr. Sanjeev Bhatt, Dr. B.N. Singh, Dr. Anna Brown, and other dignitaries.

In his keynote address, Group Chairman Dr. Sudhir Giri emphasized the transformative impact of India’s healthcare initiatives under the dynamic leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, stating, “Healthcare is now reaching the last citizen in society, and every individual must contribute to realizing the dream of a ‘Healthy India’.”

Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi remarked, “Health is not only the government’s responsibility but also a personal duty for every citizen. Schemes like Ayushman Bharat have made it possible for even the economically weaker sections to access expensive treatments free of cost.”

Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Krishnakant Dave highlighted the university’s outreach, stating that Venkateshwara’s medical students are actively visiting rural areas to spread health awareness. Dr. Sanjeev Bhatt added that the university has also established Gramin Swasthya Kendras (Rural Health Centers) to provide free treatment to underprivileged populations.

Awareness programs focusing on topics like Drug-Free India and Prevention of Female Foeticide were also held, including powerful street plays that engaged and educated audiences. Winners of the various competitions were felicitated with mementos and certificates by Dr. Giri and Dr. Tyagi.

The seminar witnessed participation from a wide array of dignitaries including Dr. B.N. Singh, Registrar Prof. Piyush Pandey, Dr. Rajesh Singh, Dr. Ramesh Singh, Prof. (Dr.) Anna Eric Brown, Prof. (Dr.) Manjari Rana, Prof. (Dr.) Saharsh Walter, Prof. (Dr.) Manish Kumar Sharma, and several faculty members, students, and healthcare professionals from across the campus.

Media Coordinator Vishwas Rana stated that the goal of these events was to raise health awareness and foster a sense of social responsibility among youth, reinforcing the vision of a healthier and more informed society.
