Students Groove to Bollywood and Hollywood Tunes | Battle of Bands Creates a Musical Extravaganza | Fashion Show Adds Glamour to the Celebration

Meerut: The two-day annual youth festival ‘Mridang-2025’ was inaugurated with great enthusiasm at Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT), located on Partapur Bypass. The event commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony, graced by Chief Guest Vishnu Sharan (Chairman), Puneet Aggarwal (Vice Chairman), Dr. K.L.A. Khan (Director), Dr. Himanshu Sharma (Principal), Dr. Neeraj Kant Sharma (Principal, Pharmacy), Dr. Gaurav Sharma (Dean, Academics), Sonal Ahlawat, and Ritima.



‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat’ Theme Showcases Cultural Diversity

This year’s theme, ‘Ek Bharat Shreshth Bharat, celebrated the nation’s rich cultural heritage. The festivities began with a soulful Ganesh Vandana and Saraswati Vandana, followed by vibrant dance performances representing the diverse traditions of Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, West Bengal, Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Haryana. The students’ mesmerizing performances brought India’s unity in diversity to life, captivating the audience.

Toycathon-2025: A Step Towards Self-Reliant India

As part of the ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ (Self-Reliant India Initiative), the festival also hosted ‘Toycathon-2025’, where students crafted toys inspired by Indian culture, ancient scriptures, and traditional games. The initiative aimed to promote the domestic toy industry and revive India’s fading indigenous games, aligning with the vision of a self-sufficient India.

Melodious Performances Leave Audience Spellbound

The Singing Competition was one of the highlights of the festival, where students enthralled the audience with melodious renditions of popular Bollywood and Hollywood tracks. Songs like ‘Sun Raha Hai Na Tu’, ‘Tujhe Kitna Chahne Lage Hum’, ‘Tose Naina’, and ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai Yaaron’ struck a chord with the audience, leaving them spellbound.

Nukkad Natak Sheds Light on Social Issues

In a powerful display of artistry and social awareness, students performed Nukkad Nataks (street plays) addressing pressing social issues such as women’s safety, acid attacks, rape, and female foeticide. The thought-provoking performances resonated deeply with the audience, drawing attention to these crucial topics.

Battle of the Bands: A Musical Showdown

The afternoon witnessed an electrifying Battle of the Bands, where five teams from various colleges competed to set the stage on fire. The high-energy performances and pulsating music had the audience tapping their feet and cheering enthusiastically. The students danced for hours, swept away by the electrifying beats, and applauded the performers, adding to the vibrant atmosphere.

Glamour Takes Center Stage at the Fashion Show

As the sun set, the spotlight turned to the much-anticipated Fashion Show. Students dazzled the ramp, showcasing four unique themes — Indo-Western and Traditional Bridal Wear from Various Indian States were among the standout categories. The striking outfits and confident walks captivated the audience, who cheered the participants with loud applause, adding a touch of glamour to the evening.

The festivities concluded with a high-energy DJ Night, where students danced their hearts out, celebrating the festival’s success in full swing.

A Musical Grand Finale with Amar Sandhu

Media Coordinator Ajay Chaudhary announced that the grand finale would feature a live performance by renowned Punjabi singer Amar Sandhu on March 23rd at 6:00 PM, promising to bring the festival to a spectacular close.

Mridang-2025 not only provided a platform for students to showcase their talent but also celebrated India’s rich cultural diversity, creativity, and spirit of togetherness. The festival concluded on a high note, leaving behind unforgettable memories and a promise to return even grander next year
