Meerut. A grand felicitation ceremony was organized at Venkateshwara University to honor Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, for implementing the historic Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state. This landmark legislation aims to strengthen national unity, social harmony, and gender equality while promoting women’s empowerment.
The event, held at the Major Dhyan Chand Sports Complex, witnessed the esteemed presence of Dr. Sudhir Giri, Founder Chairman of Venkateshwara University, Former Transport Minister & MLC Shri Ashok Katariya, Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajiv Tyagi, MLC Dr. Hari Singh Dhillon, and other distinguished personalities. The Chief Minister was accorded a warm traditional welcome with a Uttarakhandi cap, shawl, mace, and an idol of Lord Venkateshwara as a token of respect.

UCC: A Symbol of National Unity and Women’s Empowerment
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the UCC is not against any caste, religion, or community but is instead a strong proponent of national integrity, social cohesion, and gender equality.

He highlighted that UCC will act as a safeguard for women, particularly those affected by forced religious conversions, and ensure a secure and progressive future for the youth. He further stated, “A united, empowered, and self-reliant society forms the foundation of a strong nation.”

Dr. Sudhir Giri, Founder Chairman of Venkateshwara University, expressed his optimism that after Uttarakhand, the UCC will soon be implemented across India to promote national unity and social harmony. He called upon everyone to work together to re-establish India as a global leader.
