Haldwani: The two-day international conference at MIET Kumaon College, Lamachaur concluded successfully. The conference focused on "Emerging Trends in Agricultural Science, STEM, and Health for Sustainable Development", with a total of 307 researchers presenting their research papers.

On the second day, discussions were held on 124 research papers covering subjects such as chemistry, life sciences, innovation, healthcare, and health sciences. Additionally, undergraduate students from management, computer applications, nursing, and paramedical departments presented research posters. These posters highlighted health-related challenges in mountainous regions and their possible solutions.

Honoring Excellence in Research and Poster Presentation

During the closing ceremony, Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik, Joint Director, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Nainital, Hem Chandra, Deputy Director, Silk Development Department, Uttarakhand Government (Kumaon Division), and Dr. B.S. Bisht, Managing Director, MIET Kumaon, felicitated the researchers with certificates and mementos.

The Best Research Paper Awards were presented in the following categories:

  • Agricultural Science: Uma Pant
  • Mathematics: Radha Joshi, Nirmal Niyoliy
  • Engineering: Dr. Yogesh B, Tarannum
  • Innovation: Anupriya Sharma
  • Chemistry: Soni Joshi, Shiva Vishwas
  • Healthcare: Dr. Lata Arya, Abhit Baghel
  • Biological Sciences: Deepa Bisht, Dr. Deepti Negi, Dr. C.S. Bora
  • Physics: Shraddha Bhagat

In the Research Poster Presentation Competition, winners received cash prizes:

  • First Prize: Divyansh Gupta and Lalit (Management) – ₹2,600
  • Second Prize: Abhishek Khatri, Kunal Bhatt, and Mahendra Mehta (Computer Applications) – ₹1,500
  • Third Prize: Asniya, Priyanshi, and Divya (Paramedical) – ₹1,000
  • Consolation Prizes (₹500 each): Anchal, Stuti, Amisha, and Abhidesh (Nursing); K. Karan (Paramedical); Riya Mehra (BCA); Himani and Divyanshu (BBA)

Encouraging Research and Scientific Engagement

Chief Guest Dr. Yashpal Singh Malik urged students to actively participate in scientific conferences, emphasizing that such platforms provide valuable opportunities to engage with diverse scientific perspectives. Highlighting the role of educators, he inspired students to commit to consistent hard work and goal-setting, stating that "success requires struggle and sacrifice." He further stressed the need to integrate science with daily life and engage in extensive research.

Silk Development and Women’s Empowerment

Guest of Honor Hem Chandra raised awareness about fitness and personality development among students. He showcased silk paintings developed by the Silk Department and facilitated interactions between students and women from self-help groups. Addressing the audience, he stated, "The development of the silk industry symbolizes women's empowerment. It not only boosts economic prosperity but also fosters self-reliance among women in society."

International and National Experts Share Insights

Dr. B.S. Bisht, Managing Director of MIET Kumaon, noted that the international conference was organized in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC). Researchers from agriculture, life sciences, chemistry, engineering, and technology presented their research findings. Over 35 national and international experts participated in the event, sharing their insights and perspectives.
