Meerut: A two-day national workshop on “Enhancing Workplace Productivity through Lean Six Sigma Concept Towards Excellence” was inaugurated at Shri Venkateshwara University, located on the National Highway Bypass. The event was organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Sudhir Giri, Founder Chairman of Shri Venkateshwara University, along with the chief guest and renowned business guru, Dr. Praveen R. Joshi (former Director, MSME Ministry), Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Krishnakant Dave, and other dignitaries by lighting the ceremonial lamp.
Dr. Joshi Highlights the Importance of Lean Six Sigma
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Praveen R. Joshi emphasized that the ‘Lean Six Sigma’ concept focuses on eliminating waste in manpower, machinery, materials, methods, and money to significantly enhance productivity. He stated that adopting these principles not only improves individual and institutional performance but also contributes to nation-building. Dr. Joshi added that if 20% of Indian organizations achieve Lean Six Sigma certification, India could emerge as a global leader within the next five years.
Inspiration from Toyota and Mumbai’s Dabbawalas
Pro-Chancellor Dr. Rajeev Tyagi highlighted the global success of Japanese car manufacturer Toyota, which adopted Lean Six Sigma to become a leader in the automobile industry. Vice-Chancellor Dr. Krishnakant Dave cited the example of Mumbai’s Dabbawalas, who deliver meals to over 150,000 people daily with precision and punctuality, demonstrating the effectiveness of Lean Six Sigma practices.
A Blueprint for Institutional Growth
Dr. Sudhir Giri, Founder Chairman, stated that by adopting Lean Six Sigma, institutions can enhance their quality and productivity, ultimately contributing to India's economic strength and positioning the nation as a global powerhouse.
The workshop featured addresses by prominent experts, including Vice-Chancellor Dr. Krishnakant Dave, Prof. Rajesh Singh, and Prof. V.N. Jha, who shared valuable insights with the participants.

The event was attended by distinguished academicians, including Dr. T.P. Singh, Dr. Yogeshwar Sharma, Dr. Ashutosh, Dr. Dinesh Gautam, Dr. S.N. Sahu, Dr. Rajvardhan, Dr. Omprakash Gusain, and Ashwin Saxena, along with a large number of staff members and students.
The workshop concluded with participants sharing their experiences and receiving certificates of participation.
