Kashmiri Youth Engage with MP Arun Govil in Meerut, Visit Agricultural University
Meerut, Uttar Pradesh – In a significant step towards fostering national integration, 132 youths from Kashmir engaged in a dialogue with Arun Govil, Member of Parliament from Meerut-Hapur, as part of the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan’s Kashmir Youth Exchange Program. The interaction, held at the MP’s residence in Defense Enclave, Gangnagar, saw participation from youth across six districts of Kashmir, including Kupwara, Budgam, Pulwama, Anantnag, Srinagar, and Baramulla.
During the meeting, MP Arun Govil highlighted the transformative changes in Kashmir following the abrogation of Article 370. He emphasized the improved connectivity and integration of Kashmiri youth into India’s mainstream. Govil noted that earlier, Kashmiri youth faced challenges in accessing education and opportunities outside the region, but today, they are actively seeking opportunities across the country. He also encouraged the youth to read the Ramayana, citing its lessons on unity, values, and interpersonal relationships. Additionally, Govil showcased Meerut’s industrial prowess, particularly in textiles, sports goods, jewelry, scissors manufacturing, and musical instruments, and assured support to Kashmiri youth interested in establishing businesses in the region.
Following the interaction, the delegation visited the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Agriculture University in Modipuram. There, they were briefed by university officials, including Joint Director Dr. S.K. Lodhi and Professor Dr. Lokesh Kumar Gangwar, on modern agricultural techniques and innovations. The youth explored various farming practices related to wheat, rice, mustard, fruits, and flowers, gaining insights into advanced agricultural technologies.
The program, attended by district youth officer Yashwant Yadav and other officials, served as a bridge between Kashmir and Meerut, offering the youth a unique opportunity to connect culturally, industrially, and educationally. This initiative underscores the government’s efforts to promote unity and development among India’s diverse communities.
