6-Day Kashmiri Youth Exchange Program Kicks Off at MIET, 132 Participants Engage

Meerut, January 2, 2024 – A six-day Kashmiri Youth Exchange Program, aimed at fostering holistic development and cultural understanding among youth, commenced at the Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) on Monday. Organized under the theme "Vatan Ko Jano" (Know Your Nation) by the Nehru Yuva Kendra Meerut, the program is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.


The residential camp, which will run until January 7, has drawn 132 participants, including 120 young men and women and 12 team leaders from six districts of Kashmir. The inauguration ceremony was graced by MLC Dr. Ashwani Tyagi as the chief guest, alongside District Youth Officer Yashwant Yadav, MIET Campus Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, and other dignitaries. Dr. Tyagi lauded the initiative, emphasizing its role in promoting mutual understanding and national integration. He highlighted the program’s potential to acquaint Kashmiri youth with Meerut’s historical significance in India’s freedom struggle.


The event featured a vibrant cultural showcase, including traditional Kashmiri songs and dances, as well as performances by local artists. A handmade crafts exhibition, inaugurated by Dr. Tyagi, showcased the rich artistry of Kashmir, earning appreciation from attendees. The program also includes activities such as personality development sessions, career guidance, field visits, and a food festival, designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience.

District Youth Officer Yashwant Yadav stated that the initiative aims to strengthen unity and brotherhood while offering participants a deeper understanding of India’s diverse cultural heritage. The exchange program stands as a testament to the government’s commitment to empowering youth and fostering national harmony.
