Haldwani, December 26, 2024: The much-anticipated Sports Meet 2024 commenced today at MIET Kumaon, Haldwani, and will run until December 30. The event was inaugurated by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor of Soban Singh Jeena University, Almora, Prof. Satpal Singh Bisht, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
The opening ceremony began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony led by Prof. Bisht, MIET Kumaon Managing Director Dr. B.S. Bisht, Director Dr. Tarun Saxena, and Nursing Department Principal Prof. Usha Bisht. Prof. Bisht also lit the ceremonial torch, officially marking the start of the meet.
Encouraging Holistic Development
Addressing the students, Prof. Bisht emphasized the importance of participating in sports alongside academics. He encouraged students to explore their talents through platforms like Talent Hunt and discover their hidden potential.
Dr. B.S. Bisht, Managing Director, and Dr. Tarun Saxena, Director, highlighted the role of sports in holistic development, urging students to actively engage in physical activities. "Sports not only improve physical health but also instill discipline and teamwork," Dr. Saxena remarked.

The event opened with a vibrant parade featuring students from the Nursing, Management, Computer Science, and Paramedical departments. The first day saw spirited competitions across multiple disciplines, including badminton, tug-of-war, kabaddi, football, and chess.
