Dr. D.K. Sharma Emphasizes Adoption of AI alongside Civil Engineering for Future Growth
Meerut: The Civil Engineering Department of Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) hosted the grand "Civil Tech Fest 2024." The event was inaugurated by the chief guest, Professor Dr. D.K. Sharma, Vice Chancellor of H.R.I.T. University, Ghaziabad, along with distinguished guest Ompal Singh, Assistant Director, Military Engineering Service, Dr. Sanjay Kumar Singh, Campus Director of MIET, and Kamal Kumar, Head of the Civil Engineering Department.Over 250 students from renowned educational institutions including Government Polytechnic Jansath (Muzaffarnagar), Government Polytechnic Mawana, D.N. Polytechnic Meerut, and B.I.T. Polytechnic Meerut participated in the fest. The event aimed to promote innovation and new technologies in the field of civil engineering.In his address, Dr. D.K. Sharma highlighted the importance and future prospects of civil engineering, stating that the field has always been significant and will continue to offer abundant job opportunities. He encouraged students to adapt to changing times by incorporating Artificial Intelligence and other advanced technologies into their learning. Dr. Sharma emphasized that civil engineering, being integral to the development of human civilization, will remain relevant for generations to come.
Special guest Ompal Singh urged the students to pursue higher education in civil engineering, shedding light on the numerous opportunities available through higher studies and prestigious institutions.
The event also featured a technical model competition, where participants showcased their innovative ideas and technical skills. The winners were:
- First Place: Government Polytechnic Jansath (Muzaffarnagar) for their Hydraulic Bridge model.
- Second Place: Government Polytechnic Mawana for their Hydraulic Bridge drawing.
- Third Place: B.I.T. Polytechnic Meerut for their structural drawing model of Qutub Minar.
The event was attended by faculty members, including Dr. S.B. Suman, Dr. Amardeep Meena, Dr. Amrish Kumar, Yogesh Mohan, Deependra Varshney, Dr. Priyank Sharma, and Ajay Chaudhary.
