Ajay Chaudhary | Modipuram, Meerut | The Basmati Export Development Foundation (APEDA) organized a training program on Basmati seed production for farmers from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh today at Modipuram, with over 100 farmers participating. The training was led by Mr. Rakesh Gaud, General Manager of Sapal Tech Industries from Amritsar.
The chief guest of the training program, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Director of the Indian Agricultural Systems Research Institute, Modipuram, referred to it as the "Temple of Basmati Rice," stating that it is the only center where Basmati producers and scientists come to gain knowledge about various aspects of Basmati production and export.
Dr. Anupam Dixit explained that the Basmati Export Development Foundation produces the best seeds for farmers and provides them with practical knowledge about seed production. Principal Scientist Dr. Ritesh Sharma elaborated on the methods of Basmati seed production, emphasizing that high-quality seeds can significantly enhance Basmati export potential.
Former Director of the Agricultural University, Dr. S.K. Sachan, advised farmers on the proper use of chemicals and fertilizers to achieve better crop yields. Mr. Rakesh Gaud highlighted the program's objective of empowering farmers with accurate information and making them self-reliant.
The program was conducted by Dr. Pramod Kumar Tomar, with contributions from Dr. Rajendra Singh and Dr. Netrapal Sharma, who shared their insights. The event also saw significant participation from Vinod, Brijpal, Dinesh, Yashpal, Prashant, and Saurabh.
