"MIET Meerut is hosting an internal hackathon as a prelude to the Smart India Hackathon."

Meerut Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET) recently organized a highly successful Internal Hackathon, serving as a preparatory event for the prestigious Smart India Hackathon. The event, conducted under the aegis of AICTE, IIC, and MHRD, saw active participation from students across various disciplines, including agriculture, healthcare, and women's safety, all aiming to address pressing societal challenges through innovative, technology-driven solutions.

One standout project involved the development of a platform to enhance women's safety, enabling them to swiftly connect with family members and nearby police stations in emergencies. Another notable initiative was a system designed to monitor soil and air quality in Meerut and surrounding regions, providing farmers with customized fertilizer recommendations to optimize crop yields. The event also featured digital solutions to mitigate traffic congestion at busy intersections, reflecting the participants' creativity in addressing urban challenges.

The hackathon attracted 35 teams, whose projects were evaluated by an esteemed panel of industry experts, including Ms. Neha Sharma (Senior Software Engineer, Coforge), Mr. Nishant Bhardwaj (Associate Staff Engineer, Nagarro), Mr. Aditya Kumar (Manager - Data Science, KPMG, UK), and Mr. Vijay Sharma (Professor, CSE, MIET). Following a rigorous assessment process, 25 teams were selected for their outstanding ideas and implementations.

The event was successfully organized by Ms. Mohini Preetam Singh (AICTE IDEA Lab Coordinator), Dr. Swati Sharma (HoD, IT), and Dr. Mukesh Rawat (Dean, Projects). MIET’s Chairman Shri Vishnu Saran, Vice Chairman Shri Puneet Agarwal, and Director Dr. Sanjay Kr. Singh lauded the initiative and expressed their commitment to supporting future event editions. They emphasized the importance of fostering innovation, collaboration, and problem-solving among students to address contemporary societal challenges effectively.
