Meerut, 25 September 2024: The Department of Pharmacy at Meerut Institute of Technology (MIT) marked World Pharmacist's Day with a vibrant celebration, emphasizing the vital role of pharmacists in promoting global health and well-being. The event, held on September 25, brought together students, faculty, and healthcare professionals in a series of engaging activities and informative discussions focused on the theme, “Pharmacists: Meeting Global Health Needs.”
The celebration kicked off with a ceremonial lamp lighting by esteemed guests, including Ms. Priyanka Chaudhary, Drug Inspector Meerut, and Mr. Shivam Kaushik, ASI Pharmacist (CRPF), among others. The guest speakers highlighted the evolving responsibilities of pharmacists, stressing their pivotal role as accessible healthcare providers who help bridge the gap between patients and medical services. In her keynote speech, Ms. Chaudhary emphasized the critical contributions pharmacists make to healthcare systems, including vaccinations, health screenings, and medication counseling.Engaging activities such as a Pharma Quiz competition, Poster Making, Rangoli Making, and Slogan Writing activity showcased the creativity of students while reinforcing the importance of pharmacists in enhancing healthcare access and quality. A health check-up camp offered free medical services like blood pressure monitoring and health consultations, demonstrating the students' commitment to fostering public health. The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, acknowledging the talents and efforts of participants.Dr. Neeraj Kant Sharma, Principal of MIT, underscored the essential role of pharmacists in global health, while a Pharmacist's Oath was taken, reinforcing the commitment to ethical practice and patient care.
