10-Day Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Workshop Launched by MIET under the Aegis of USERC
Campus Adda |Ajay Chaudhary|Haldwani: MIET Kumaon College of Nursing, in collaboration with ACIC Devbhoomi Foundation and under the aegis of the Uttarakhand Science Education and Research Centre (USERC), Dehradun, has launched a 10-day menstrual health and hygiene awareness workshop for adolescent girls. The primary aim of this workshop is to educate young girls about the importance of maintaining hygiene and taking care of their health during menstruation.
The workshop commenced on 17th September 2024 at PM Shri Government Girls Inter College and continued at The Masters School on 21st September, followed by Hargovind Suyal Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Goswami Saraswati Vidya Mandir High School, and Gyan Prakash Inter College on 23rd September. So far, over 1,100 students have been made aware of menstrual hygiene and the safe use of sanitary napkins through this initiative.
The workshop was led by Ms. Neha Rautela, Lecturer at MIET Kumaon College of Nursing, with active participation from faculty members and nursing students. Faculty members including Ms. Lalita Takuli, Ms. Jyoti Kharayat, and Ms. Divya Mishra provided vital education on menstrual hygiene. Additionally, nursing students—Kalpana Bisht, Aanchal, Sagun, Pooja Upreti, Nikita, and Chandni—performed skits and presentations aimed at dispelling myths and misconceptions related to menstruation.
On this occasion, Dr. B.S. Bisht, Managing Director of MIET Kumaon, congratulated the entire team for their commendable efforts and emphasized that such workshops not only contribute to improving adolescent girls' health but also serve as a powerful tool for bringing about positive societal change.
